Legendary Canadian rockers Randy Bachman and Fred Turner of Bachman & Turner will appear in 'Dog Fight,' an upcoming motion picture starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis.

According to the Winnipeg Free Press, the musicians spent four days in New Orleans on set of the film directed by Jay Roach ('Austin Powers').

"It was really hard work, long days and about 200 people on set," the band's manager Gilles Paquin said. "But it's one of the biggest movies of the year and it's great positioning for the band."

Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst Fights Efforts to Stop Omaha Anti-Bias Law

Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst and other Omaha musicians signed a Jan. 23 letter demanding Nebraska lawmakers stop a law that would prevent the city and other towns from passing anti-discrimination legislation. The musicians feel the law would send a "message to the world that Nebraska is not forward thinking or welcoming."

According to The Omaha World-Herald, Oberst and the other artists said it was "deplorable and unacceptable" to try to stop Omaha City Councilman Ben Gray from moving forward on an ordinance to ban discrimination against homosexual and transgender people. The letter was sent to state senators on Judiciary Committee of the state legislature.

"We were excited to learn that Councilman Ben Gray was going forward to put forth a citywide ordinance that would ensure equal employment opportunity for all, including our LGBT community," the letter says.

Mick Jagger Ditches Prime Minister's Event After Feeling Like a 'Political Football'

British Prime Minister David Cameron has made his musical tastes well known over the past several weeks, but recently he's found himself in a bit of a musical tiff. Rolling Stones frontman and jangly skeleton dancer Mick Jagger pulled out of an event hosted by the PM because he felt he was being used as a "political football."

Jagger was scheduled to appear at the Davos Summit in Switzerland to take part in a campaign to promote foreign investment alongside famous Brits like model Lily Cole and inventor Tim Berners-Lee who invented a little series of tubes called the Internet. However, he has now pulled out after wishing to steer clear of any outright political endorsements.

Craig Finn Makes Friends With Jesus, Stops the Beer-Throwing on Solo Album

Jeremy Balderson
With some time off from the Hold Steady and his creative juices still flowing, frontman Craig Finn needed a challenge. Rather than stay home in Brooklyn, Finn traveled to Austin to work with a new set of musicians and producer Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Trail of Dead). The result is is new solo album, 'Clear Eyes, Full Heart,' which takes its title from the 'Friday Night Lights' motivational speech, "clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!"

The countrified tracks on the LP are much more somber and way less frenetic than Finn's usual writing for the Hold Steady, a stylistic turn that he says reflects a part of his personality that he rarely examines in his band's songs. Spinner recently caught up with Finn before his European tour to talk about the record, the wide influence of television, getting shot and being friends with Jesus.

Perfume Genius Video Stupidly Banned From YouTube for 'Adult Content'

Vimeo
So, apparently YouTube doesn't like gay men hugging with their shirts off.

Matador Records revealed that Perfume Genius' new teaser video for his upcoming album, 'Put Your Back N 2 It,' was rejected by the video site for violating its Adult Image/Video Content policy.

So, how bad is the ad? For a portion of the 16-second clip, Perfume Genius (aka Mike Hadreas) is shown embracing gay porn star Arpad Miklos. They have their shirts off but their underwear is on, somewhat like the longer, more sideboob-filled teaser video for Lana Del Rey's 'Born to Die.' Take a look for yourself below, thanks to the open-minded folks at Vimeo.

Chairlift Singer Deals With 'Crazy Girl' During 'Something' Record Release Show

Caroline PolachekDamon Dahlen, AOL
Some fans just can't take a hint. Chairlift singer Caroline Polachek was reminded of this earlier this week during the Brooklyn band's record release show for 'Something.'

"Btw, shoutout to the crazy girl who came on stage last night," the group tweeted the day after the Jan. 23 gig. "Sorry we had to kick u out, but that was not nice what u did. Caroline was almost killed but I didn't miss a note :0."

A YouTube clip of their performance at New York's Bowery Ballroom provides some insight into the comment. In the video, an overzealous fan climbs on stage with Chairlift and approaches Polachek. When the "crazy girl" goes in to harmonize, Polachek gently pushes her back.

Lookout! Records, Punk Label That Launched Green Day and Ted Leo, Folding

Although the label that launched Green Day has yet to make it official, it appears that Lookout! Records is no more. According to a blog post by Ted Leo on Jan 13, and reported by Punknews.org, the label -- which officially stopped releasing new material in 2006 -- has "sadly, shuttered it's windows for good."

In a post titled "Lookout! Ist Kapuut," Leo replied to fans who inquired about why some of the artist's albums "disappeared from all the digital services."

"A better eulogy should be forthcoming, but just to answer these questions, this means that these records have reverted to my complete ownership, which is kind of cool in some ways, I guess, except that it also means I have to basically run my own label for them now unless I wind up licensing them to someone else in the future," Leo wrote.

"I'm not happy to see Lookout gone, but having complete rights of usage and total and direct revenue from sales now, can ultimately turn this into a positive situation."
